macOS Troubleshooting¶
If the standard steps on the macOS installation page don’t work, walk through the checklist below in Terminal. It was confirmed working with Python 3.12.
Open Terminal and go to the JuSPICE project folder. This must be the folder containing
pyproject.toml:cd /path/to/juspice
Replace
/path/to/juspicewith the actual location of thejuspicefolder on your computer. You can check that you are in the correct folder with:test -f pyproject.toml && echo "Found pyproject.toml"
It should print:
Found pyproject.toml
Check whether Python 3.12 is available:
python3.12 --versionJuSPICE worked with Python 3.12.
Install uv if the
uvcommand is not recognized:curl -LsSf https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh # or via Homebrew brew install uv
Reload your shell configuration so
uvis onPATH(or simply open a new Terminal window):source $HOME/.local/bin/env
Check that it works:
uv --versionInstall Python 3.12 using uv:
uv python install 3.12
Create a virtual environment with Python 3.12, inside the repository so the checkout stays fully self-contained:
uv venv venvs/.venv --python 3.12
Activate the virtual environment:
source venvs/.venv/bin/activate
After activation,
(.venv)should appear at the beginning of the Terminal prompt, for example:(.venv) user@Mac juspice %
Confirm that the activated environment uses Python 3.12:
python --versionIt should show something like:
Python 3.12.x
Install JuSPICE from the project folder:
uv pip install -e .
Verify the installation:
python -c "import juspice; print(juspice.__version__)"
This should print the installed version, for example:
0.1.0
