Mode of Access

Repository access

Jülich DATA primary use case is serving as a registry for scholarly data.

  1. The DOIs of published datasets registered with Jülich DATA may point to external repositories, or point to the landing page on Jülich DATA.
  2. The landing page on Jülich DATA gives free and open access to all bibliographic and/or scientific metadata of the respective dataset. All terms of licencing still have to be fulfilled.

Data access

In some cases, data may be deposited (uploaded) into datasets on Jülich DATA. Other datasets might link to data on different storages.

Published data

  1. If general access to the data itself is granted by the original uploader, any visitor on Jülich DATA may download and use the data under the terms of its licence.

  2. The original uploader of the data may have precluded direct and/or open access to the data itself. In this case, Jülich DATA provides means to contact the contact person for this data.

While the Jülich DATA operators guarantee to forward such requests to existing email addresses, any further action is taken by the contact person who generally is not part of the Jülich DATA team.

Unpublished data

  1. Unpublished data is not indexed by external data search services.
  2. Its data, landing page, bibliographic and scientific metadata are only visible to a limited set of people.
  3. Those are set by the uploader or another person on their behalf and may include Jülich-external people.

Upload access

Uploading and depositing data is restricted within Jülich DATA. As the primary use case is a data registry to index data, not store it, upload is staff only. For special use cases, this can be changed by a dataverse administrator.
